Thailand's women's volleyball team will compete in the Volleyball Nations League 2026, with matches scheduled across three host cities from June to July. The tournament features 18 teams competing in a preliminary round, with the top eight finishers advancing to the Finals in Macau (July 22-26). The 18th-place team faces relegation, a standard format regulation that applies to all participating nations.

Thailand's VNL 2026 Schedule

The Thai squad will play 12 preliminary-round matches distributed across three weeks in different venues. The competition commences June 3 in Nanjing, shifts to Bangkok from June 17-21, and concludes in Kansai (Osaka) between July 8-12.

Nanjing Week (June 3-7)

Thailand's campaign opens in Nanjing with matches against Serbia (June 3), China (June 4), Belgium (June 6), and Czechia (June 7). This opening slate tests the team's capability against a mix of established European competitors and regional powerhouses.

Bangkok Week (June 17-21)

The Bangkok phase represents Thailand's home-court opportunity at Indoor Stadium Huamark. All four matches begin at 8:30 PM local time, accommodating working professionals and maximizing crowd attendance. Thailand faces opponents that include mid-tier and lower-ranked competitors in this phase, providing opportunities for competitive play before the elite-level opponents in the final week.

Kansai Week (July 8-12)

The tournament concludes in Osaka with matches against globally ranked elite competitors, completing Thailand's round-robin preliminary schedule.

Tournament Format and Advancement

The International Volleyball Federation structured VNL 2026 to place all 18 teams on theoretically equal footing during the preliminary round. Points are awarded for wins and set differentials, creating complex standings calculations. Only the top eight finishers advance to the Finals; the 18th-place team faces automatic relegation.

China, as the finals host, receives guaranteed Finals participation regardless of preliminary performance—a strategic consideration in the competition structure that applies across all participating nations.

Broadcasting and Domestic Coverage

Thai television networks MONOMAX and MONO 29 control broadcast rights for the VNL 2026, ensuring nationwide coverage of Thailand's matches. This broadcasting partnership provides Thai audiences nationwide access to international competition and amplifies the visibility of women's volleyball domestically.

Thailand's Volleyball Background

Thailand's women's volleyball program brings regional excellence to the international stage. The national team claimed its 17th Southeast Asian Games gold medal in December 2025 and holds three Asian Championship titles (2009, 2013, 2023). These achievements demonstrate the program's competitive foundation at the regional level.

Thailand first reached the VNL Finals in 2022, establishing its capability at the international stage. The program continues to develop competitive players through domestic championships and regional competitions.

The Path Forward

With 18 teams competing and only 8 advancing, Thailand faces a demanding schedule against international opponents of varying competitive levels. The preliminary round spanning three countries across five weeks will test the squad's technical execution and tactical adaptability on the international stage.

The Bangkok week provides Thailand's primary home-court advantage, with Huamark Stadium providing the environment for competitive matches. The tournament structure gives all 18 participating nations the same format— 12 preliminary matches distributed equally across three venues—creating an equitable framework for international competition.

Thailand's participation in VNL 2026 represents continued engagement with elite international volleyball competition, following the program's established trajectory of regional success and international participation.
