The Thailand Pollution Control Department will conduct another field survey before the end of the week, measuring for residual VOCs, hydrogen sulphide, and LEL levels. Only if all metrics are stable and below safety thresholds will the case be closed — no exceptions. That’s new.
For investors and operators in Bangkok’s booming data centre sector, this is a wake-up call. Emergency diesel power may seem necessary, but storage in dense zones is no longer tolerated. The Ministry of Energy has made it clear: future approvals for data centres will include mandatory fuel location audits. In high-density zones, backup power will need to come from off-site supply agreements or battery systems — not buried tanks.
